Chicago Sky Basketball Cards
The Chicago Sky, founded in 2006, built a legacy of perseverance, star power, and eventual championship glory after years of steady growth in one of the WNBA’s largest markets. Early seasons featured standout players likeCandice DupreeandSylvia Fowles, a dominant center and future Hall of Famer who became a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and led the Sky to their first WNBA Finals appearance in 2014 alongside scoring guardElena Delle Donne, the 2015 league MVP. Despite falling short in the Finals that year, Delle Donne’s brilliance and Fowles’ interior dominance established Chicago as a perennial playoff team before both stars eventually departed. The franchise’s defining moment came in 2021 when Chicago nativeCandace Parker, a two-time MVP and one of the greatest players in WNBA history, returned home to lead the Sky to their first WNBA Championship. Alongside Finals MVPKahleah Copper, guardsCourtney VanderslootandAllie Quigley, and a deep, balanced roster, the Sky defeated the Phoenix Mercury in a thrilling four-game series, capturing the title in front of ecstatic home fans. Known for elite guard play, three-point shooting, and Parker’s leadership, the Sky continued to contend in subsequent seasons with Copper emerging as the franchise centerpiece after Parker’s retirement and Vandersloot and Quigley’s departures. Building around Copper, forwardMarina Mabrey, and young talents likeAngel Reese, the Sky are entering a new era aiming to return to championship form while honoring the legacy of legends who brought Chicago its first WNBA title.
